A good night’s sleep is incredibly important for your ability to function the next day, not to mention when it comes to your long-term health and well-being. There are a number of reasons that people may struggle with sleep, and if you’re having trouble with it, it’s always worth doing whatever it takes to solve these issues.
Sometimes, it’s just a matter of changing your environment. If an early sunrise wakes you up with the light shining in your face or making your room too bright, that’s one of the easiest problems to fix.
Sleep Better With Blackout Shutters
We offer many varieties of shutters, and they all have their own benefits and uses. For a bedroom, we recommend blackout shutters.
The best way to block out as much light as possible with shutters is by using
Solid raised shutters. Instead of having slats, these shutter panels are made from a solid piece of wood which blocks any light from passing through it. You can still open the panels to let light in during the day, or to see out of your window.
But if you still want the benefits of louvered slats on your shutters, like being able to let a little bit of light in or for better airflow while still maintaining privacy. They also do a great job of blocking out sunlight compared to many other types of window coverings.
We can make panels that overlap when they’re closed, meaning light won’t sneak in through the cracks. Also, the slats in our plantation shutters also overlap, which helps keep out additional light.
If having the absolute minimum light enter your room is your goal, then a solid panel shutter is the best option, but our plantation shutters will also do a great job of keeping your room perfectly dark when it’s time to sleep.
Plantation shutters also provide an extra layer to keep out sound. So if pesky external noises are what keeps you up at night, the solid nature of shutters help reduce sound more than a simple curtain or blind could ever do.
What About Blackout Blinds With Shutters?
Blackout blinds with shutters are another option to further block out the sun. For this option, you will probably want to go with blinds that can be easily adjusted to be out of the way, so that you can enjoy your plantation shutters during the daytime, and then quickly pull down the blackout blind and close the shutters when it’s time to sleep.
We recommend emailing in a photo of your windows to our expert team if you wish to get blackout blinds with shutters, as you will need to ensure you leave enough space behind the shutters for the blackout blinds to fit.
Shutters Perfect for Night Shift Workers
If you work the night shift, it’s always light outside when you’re trying to sleep, so some form of blackout window dressing is absolutely essential.
Many people who sleep during the night time and work during the day will benefit from an extra couple hours of a dark room before they have to wake up, but for people who sleep during the day, it can be very difficult to adjust, especially when the room still has light shining through.
