Ellis’ classic french shutters look

When our recent customer, Ellis Smith, shared photos of her shutters after she installed them in her home, we were proud to see another customer happy with their order.

Ellis fitted our shutters to 5 rooms in her home. The rooms are elegant and stylish whilst being functional for her family and her interior design channels Parisian-chic minimalism, with her new window dressing bringing the ‘french shutters’ look she sought.





‘We had shutters fitted in all four bedrooms and the kitchen.’ Ellis says,

‘Our home was built in 2017, it’s a new build home and only had the bare basics from which we had chosen from our developer such as kitchen worktops and doors etc. Everything else had to be decided upon. For this house, I really wanted it to exude elegance and have a classic, contemporary and minimalist feel to it all whilst feeling homely and a great place to enjoy making memories. I feel shutters have such a classic feel to them and knew they would make our house look above and beyond your normal new build home.’


Ellis was specific with her vision for how she wanted her shutters to look. She wanted a traditional appeal that was still in keeping with her modern home.

‘We opted for pure white, full height plantation shutters with a central tilt rod and wide slats. I loved the idea of having the tilt rod and wider slats as it makes them look so classic.’

Fitting couldn’t be more simple. Ellis says...

‘My husband installed the shutters himself with a little help from myself to hold in place and pass the tools. I always joke that our house is made of filler as my husband doesn't have the best hand when it comes to DIY, and to say I was worried about him fitting the shutters was a slight understatement. When they arrived I couldn't believe how easy they were to fit and could have fitted them myself had I been a little bit taller. The frames screwed and slotted into each other perfectly, they were then screwed in using the pre-drilled holes and the shutters themselves literally clipped straight on in seconds. There were no mistakes and all five windows were fitted in a few hours!’
