Make Your Home Look More Valuable from Outside
12:00PM 10 November 2022
There might be more than one reason you want to add extra kerb appeal to your home. It may be that you’re planning on moving, or perhaps you and your neighbour have a bit of friendly competition going on. Either way, giving your exterior some of extra “wow” is never a bad thing. However, you don’t have to break the bank to make these transformative changes. Follow our below guide and you’ll have the neighbours’ curtains twitching in no time.
Start With the Garden
We understand that some of us aren’t lucky enough to have a garden. If you are, it’s important to remember that the garden is an extension of your home, and one that can either make or break how your home is perceived. After all, first impressions are important. By regularly maintaining your garden, you’ll add an air of luxury that’s sure to increase your home’s value. Plus, who doesn’t love a bit of fresh air?
Paint or Replace Your Front Door
A memorable front door can have a striking effect on visitors, setting the tone in terms of what they might expect from the inside. Whatever your design choice – be it contemporary, traditional, regal, quirky, or otherwise – it’s important that the door makes an impression. If your current one is lacking in personality, it may be worth considering a brand-new door. However, for period properties with their original doors, we would always recommend a refurbishment over a replacement.
Increase Kerb Appeal with DIY Shutters
One of the most effective ways to make your home look more valuable from the outside is by installing plantation shutters. Not only do they have a transformative and elegant effect on any home, they’re also incredibly practical. They improve privacy, security, light management, insulation, soundproofing, and come in all sorts of styles. But that’s not all…
Do Shutters Increase Home Value?
It’s a great question, and one we get asked all the time. The short answer is, ‘Yes, shutters will add value to your home’. How? Well, our shutters are a semi-permanent fixture in that they are built-to-last. In fact, with the correct care and attention, there’s no reason your shutters can’t last for years, decades even. We’re so confident of this that we offer a 3 and 10-year warranty on all orders of our hardwood and faux wood shutters respectively.
Our Shutter Styles
One of our favourite things about shutters is how customisable they are, with several unique styles to meet different needs. Full height shutters cover the entirety of the window from top to bottom, while café style shutters are fixed to the bottom portion of the window. For the best of both worlds, our tier-on-tier shutters cover the whole window but are split into two independently opening top and bottom sections. Lastly, you have our more traditional solid panel shutters, perfect for a more traditional look.
