The Shutter Store announced today that they have completed the final stage of gaining approval to market their wood shutters as being made from 1.
Founded in 2003, The Shutter Store has grown to be the UK’s premier online DIY shutters specialist.
Director Murray Clark said, “We have always taken our social responsibilities exceptionally seriously. Where possible we have always endeavoured to minimise waste and generally run our business in an ethically sound manner.
Ensuring that the shutters we sell are made from FSC certified wood has been a priority for us, for the past couple of years. A lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes to get to this point, but we are now proud to be a UK company selling a fully FSC certified shutter product.”
The FSC (The Forest Stewardship Council) is a non profit, non government, fully independent global organisation, focused on promoting the responsible management of forests around the world. Full checks are carried out by the FSC to ensure that wood used to make FSC certified products conforms to the FSC's high standards. The purpose being to ensure that the forest used to grow that wood operates in a way that is economically viable, socially beneficial and of course, environmentally appropriate.
“By gaining the Forest Stewardship Council's stamp of approval that our shutters are FSC certified, our customers are safe in the knowledge that the shutters they buy from us are not only unique in their design and build quality, but are manufactured to compliment the environment. There are very few FSC shutter manufacturers in the world and we are proud to sell shutters that are made by a company that has been vetted by the FSC. Our B&Q Shutters customers can now shop with us, with a clear conscience, knowing the wood used to make our shutters is fully approved by the FSC.
