Trend alert! Dulux reveal the colour of 2017 and here are our tips to bring it home.
Dulux have revealed THE colour of 2017, meet Denim Drift, ”a complementary colour palette of tonal blues”. These beautiful blue hues are very versatile and will no doubt create a calming ambience in the home. Here are 5 ways to bring this trend home from subtle touches to sweeping statements, for every budget.
1. Create a feature wall
Don’t fancy committing to blue throughout the whole room, why not create a feature wall? Go for a deeper hue to make a bolder statement, whilst a lighter version will create a cooling calm. For those who feel more creative an ombre effect would look wonderful building up from darker tones at the base and slowly blending in lighter versions look quite spectacular and original.
2. Lay down a rug
A simple and effective way to update your room with minimal effort is to add colour with a rug. Not only will you be bringing colour in a subtle way, but also by adding one into the right space can make a room look bigger and also more inviting. West Elm have a wonderful selection which work well with this trend. We adore “blurred lines” with it’s faded effect creating a vintage feel.
3. Subtle touches
Updating your tableware, adding a few new pieces to your afternoon tea collection or even a vase in your entryway are all effective ways to bring a piece of a trend home without spending too much. Tesco’s have introduced a multi-tonal stoneware dinner piece in “Blue Sahara” perfect for this trend.
Bring a new lease of life to some furniture by upcycling with Annie Sloan’s fabulous paint. No need to strip varnish or sand down. Just choose your colour, get your brush and you are good to go! We recommend “Napoleon Blue” a rich, deep tone of blue, which will make a grand transformation to even the most bland piece of furniture.
