Tier on tier shutters are commonly known as double hung shutters. They are extremely popular on bay windows in the UK because of their versatility. By having the top and bottom panels , the lower panels are usually left totally closed over with the louvres adjusted to allow as much light in but also to retain privacy especially if you live on a main road or are particularly overlooked by your neighbours. The top half of the tier on tier shutters are usually left open during the daylight hours to maximise light coming into the room and once sunset approaches , the panels can be closed over to give privacy and darkness to your room.
As you can see by the picture shown, you can freely roam around the bedroom with the bottom panels closed and have the top totally open to the sunlight.
Made from FSC certified hardwood, you can choose two types of wood. The first is poplar wood which is ideal for paint finishes as it gives asmooth clean finish. The other is Elm and this wood is usually used on wood stains as it shows the grain of the wood clearly through the stain.
